Dates Attended: Fall 2008
Program Attended: FUA through Stony Brook University
I currently work at the Garrison Institute, a contemplative-based think tank focused on engaged problem solving, in their Climate, Mind and Behavior (CMB) Initiative. The CMB Initiative focuses on the human-dimensions of energy, climate and sustainability issues. We use applied behavior-sciences in solution-oriented program development, focusing on a middle-out approach rather than a top-down or bottom up approach. The Institute is full of inquisitive, energetic people who are all working towards creating an optimized human experience for all and it's truly an enjoyable place to be.
I often tell people that I learned as much about Italian culture through the Tuscan wine course at Apicius than anywhere else during my semester abroad. Each and every course/opportunity at FUA and Apicius offered something memorable, but in particular it was the way the staff so easily integrated into the full experience of the students - offering themselves as people and friends outside of the classroom - that made the biggest impact on me.
