About Us

Café Marliacea, created in 2008, is located inside Latour-Marliac, the world’s oldest and most famous water lily nursery. Founded by Bory Latour-Marliac in Le Temple-sur-Lot, France, it has been in continuous operation since 1875. It has also become an important regional tourist attraction, with thousands coming to see and experience its collections, gardens, museum, restaurant and boutique. M. Latour-Marliac was the first person to create and commercialize colorful hardy water lilies (before there was only the white native water lily). His creations inspired Claude Monet, and the nursery supplied the painter with his nymphéas in 1894. Rob Sheldon, of American origin, acquired Latour-Marliac in 2007, with the aim of building the business. He has been working with a young and dynamic team, now headed by James Corsi, to restore and develop the site. The company has more than doubled in size since 2007, with particularly rapid growth in its new restaurant and catering businesses
