Grant Isaacson

Participating in the Spring Semester Hospitality Management Career Program I had the fantastic experience of taking courses through FUA-AUF and interning at the student laboratory, Ganzo. Gaining experience networking with local companies: I left Florence more motivated and prepared than ever!
The hands-on immersion and application of course material throughout the semester is a unique feature to FUA-AUF that is incomparable.

Feel free to contact me for any advice, questions, or to simply gain more understanding of the global Hospitality Industry. The world is at your fingertips!

Courtney Hamlin

I studied at FUA-AUF in 2011-2012 through their 1-year Baking & Pastry Program at Apicius. I also participated in the Tutto Toscana program in 2011 and would highly recommend it! I truly loved my experience living and studying in Florence and also love telling others about it! So, if you have any questions about the programs, traveling, favorite food spots, working in the food industry, or just life in Florence, I'm happy to answer any and all questions!

Just remember, that you may only get this opportunity once in your life, so make the most of it! :)

Bobby Hoffman

Your participation in a program at FUA-AUF will likely be one of the best you have ever had. As a professor at the University of Central Florida, I participated in a language program as a student in Summer 2013. I found the school faculty and staff to be very supportive and friendly. I also experienced the wonderful Florentine people and best culinary that Florence has to offer.

If you would like an alumni perspective on how to enjoy Florence and the surrounding area, please feel free to contact me.

FUA-AUF provides two unique ways to stay engaged within the FUA-AUF community and share your alumni perspectives with current and future students. See below for details on the Ambassador and Peer Rep programs.

FUA-AUF Ambassador Program

FUA-AUF’s Alumni Ambassador Program provides our former students the opportunity to meet with other graduates and with prospective students looking into FUA-AUF. Selected Ambassadors fulfill a 1-year commitment to the program and collaborate closely with the FUA-AUF Alumni Network on a series of structured projects and initiatives.

Through the Alumni Ambassador Program designated alumni volunteers work to create stronger connections between their fellow alumni as well as being as a landmark for present and future FUA-AUF students through targeted communication.

The FUA-AUF Ambassadors will get in contact with other alumni, as well as with prospective students. The Ambassadors are available to answer questions and suggestions you might have regarding your upcoming Florence experience!

We are honored to introduce you our current Ambassador:

Samantha Suriani

I am currently studying Italian Language & Culture and Teacher Preparation at Stony Brook University in New York. I had the privilege of studying Italian language and culture at FUA-AUF in the Fall of 2018.  FUA-AUF has opened so many professional and academic doors for me, including a position in the Stony Brook Study Abroad Office. Now, I have the opportunity to help students on Stony Brook’s side to study abroad at FUA-AUF.I met the staff of FUA at the National Restaurant Association Food Show in May 2016 and knew immediately that I wanted to participate in the TuttoToscana program. After spending one term in Florence studying event management and the wines of Tuscany, I traveled to New York City as part of a team to execute a week of events including at the James Beard Foundation.

I chose to study in Italy because I wanted to improve my knowledge of Italian culture and strengthen my Italian speaking skills. When I heard that FUA (located in the heart of Italian culture and language) offered many courses providing this, I knew this was the right university to study at.
Through FUA, I have met some of my best friends with whom I have experienced many of my favorite moments with. Through the Student Life Department, I met so many helpful advisors who are still in contact with me today.

Website Cookie Policy

This website, as most on the Internet, uses variable storage – more commonly called cookies. These are in-use for a variety of reasons detailed below.

Cookies are small text files that are stored locally on your computer and can only be accessed by the server that saved them. These allow for websites to provide services and a seamless experience by saving variables such as screen width, last item viewed, visitor preferences or session information. This last part, session information, is very important to keep tabs on your status on the site, while visiting. These session cookies attach a random and anonymous session variable to your visit so that when you change pages and move about the site, your experience is continuous. Without session variables, multiple visitors would clash and one user’s clicks may be interpreted by the server as that of another.

Many times, public websites share affiliate code and set cookies for one-another in order to track users across domains. This type of marketing has been commonplace on the Internet for many years and is generally reserved to commercial sites that monetize the visitor. Our sites NEVER SHARE ANY INFORMATION WITH THIRD PARTIES and furthermore WE DO NOT TRACK, NOR ALLOW TRACKING FROM OUR SITES EXCEPT AS STATED IN THIRD-PARTY COOKIES (3 below).

Our site uses the following types of cookies:

1) Session Cookies
These types of cookies expire when you leave the site and are mainly used to ensure a seamless experience. In the case of sites where we offer membership and login, these cookies allow you to login and be represented as you.
2) First-Party Cookies
These are cookies that our site may set to store simple variables. Our sites do not store any of your personal information and these cookies are purely used to manage your visit experience. Specifically, a site may track the browser width in pixels so that the page renders correctly, which slide in a presentation series you’ve seen so as to allow navigation through the slides and similar and similar, purely technical, reasons. In no cases are these cookies used for tracking or analysis.
3) Third-Party Cookies
We do not utilize any third-party cookies. Traditionally where these appear is when advertising is presented to the user. Our sites do not serve any advertisements nor do we share or sell our data to any third parties. However, when utilizing services that provide video (e.g. Vimeo, YouTube), embedded PDF slideshows (e.g. Youblisher, Issu) or other externally-served content, these service providers may try and set cookies for their own purposes. While we cannot control their software implementation, your consent (as discussed below) will determine whether these are set or not.

Cookie Consent:

Upon arriving at our site, as a citizen of the EU and related affected countries under GDPR regulation, you will be presented with an option to accept or decline cookies. When declining cookies, please note that Session Cookies may be provided regardless and are allowed per Recital 30 of the GDPR. However, by declining the cookie consent, your website browsing experience may be diminished (certain content not showing, especially those from third parties) or completely impossible, as in the case of sites where membership is possible.

At any time, you can click on the Cookie Policy button at the bottom of the page to remove your previously granted consent to use cookies, or to give consent. Should you choose to revoke consent, your browsing experience will be the same as that when declining the ability for the site to set cookies.
